How I Got Here
I am fortunate enough to encounter many teachers who influenced me in a positive way. One was my high school Latin teacher, the other was my English substitute teacher/AP Bio teacher. They were approachable and made me feel comfortable in my own skin. They were more than willing to meet their students halfway and understood the workload we have. Their warmth is something that stays with me to this day. Throughout my college education, I received many kind words from teachers. Whenever I find myself in an emotional low, I use those words as encouragement to push myself forward.
Ironically enough, the person who was most adamant against me pursuing art was the one who convinced me to pursue art. I took an intro drawing class during my first couple years of community college for the sake of fulfilling the elective requirement. The professor complimented my skills and the rest was history, so to speak. Part of me wishes I can go back to doing art for fun, since now I'm a hundred and ten percent more harsh on myself, but overall, I have no regrets.
